Brief Introduction about White Corundum

White Corundum (WFA) belongs to the group of electro-corundum. The main material of WFA is a-Al2O3. It is a synthetic mineral of high purity and extreme hardness. Compared with brown fused alumina (BFA), White Corundum is harder, and it is more fragile.White Corundum is widely used in producing abrasive tools and refractory. Other applications include surface treatment, ceramic tiles, anti-skid paints, skin and dental care, etc..

We supply White Corundum in standard size, i.e. from #4 to #220. Bespoke and blended grades are available on request.

Applications of White Corundum

 

Thanks to the extreme hardness and high purity of White Corundum, it is widely used in many fields. It could be used in surface treatment, vitrified bonded abrasives, coated abrasives, refractory products, etc..

Production Process of White Corundum

 

White Corundum is manufactured by the fusion of controlled quality pure grade Bayer Alumina in an electric arc furnace at temperatures greater than 2000 degree Celsius followed by a slow solidification process.  The cooled crude is further crushed. The crushed crude is the semi-product. Then, the semi-product receives high intensity magnetic treatment to remove virtually all of the magnetic iron present. Air washing is also applied to the semi-product, to ensure the cleaness of the white fused alumia. Finally, the semi-product is sieved and classified into different grain sizes.
